Police Search For Shooting, Carjacking Suspect

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Police are looking for a man who shot a Topeka woman at an apartment Monday night before stealing her car.

It happened just after 10:30 pm in the apartments at 3330 SW 29th. When police arrived on scene they found Karissa Torres, 22, with a life threatening gunshot wound. She was taken by AMR to a local hospital.

The suspect left the scene in the Torres' white, 2012 Chevy Impala. Authorities later found the vehicle unoccupied at the Cedar Ridge Apartments on SW Eveningside Drive.

Police describe the suspect as a black male wearing a Carhart jacket with white bandana over his face. He remained at large Tuesday morning.
