TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A well known Topeka defense attorney, awaiting a misdemeanor trial on a domestic battery charge has been arrested on 10 new charges, including a felony criminal use of weapons.
63-year-old Wendell Betts was booked into the Shawnee County Jail just after 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night, on charges including stalking, violation of a protection order, criminal use of weapons,
possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, DUI and reckless driving.
Topeka Police say officers arrested Betts when he drove into the Law Enforcement Center parking lot, almost hit vehicles, and came inside the building, showing signs of impairment.
Betts has an October 21st misdemeanor jury trial on charges of domestic battery and intimidation of a witness. That's from a March incident involving his wife.
