MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police say a report of a gunman at a Manhattan elementary school turned out to be a false alarm Thursday.
At 4:10 PM on November 29, 2012, officers were called to Woodrow Wilson Elementary School on Juliette Avenue in Manhattan after the RCPD received a call about a teenage male walking around in the playground area with what appeared to be a rifle.
The school went into lockdown as a precaution. It was after school hours and police say there were no children outside at the time.
Officials say it turned out the 13-year-old male on school grounds had a toy gun.
No crime occurred but an information report was filed by the RCPD to document the incident.
