Teen Arrested In Manhattan Drug Bust

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Manhattan man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after police searched his apartment for drugs.

According to a press release from Sergeant Brek Jager with the Riley County Police Department's Special Investigative Unit, on August 8, 2012, members of the Riley County Police Department executed a search warrant at 514 Kearney Street Apartment A in Manhattan in reference to the distribution of marijuana.

Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, U.S. currency, and a firearm were seized during the search warrant, police said.

Benson Jackson, 19, a resident of the apartment that was searched, was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful acquisition of drug proceeds, no Kansas Drug Tax Stamp, and criminal use of a weapon.

Jackson was held at the Riley County Jail in lieu of a $9,000.00 bond.

This investigation is on-going.
