TPD Investigating Tuesday Homicides As Unrelated

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka Police say they are investigating a pair of Tuesday afternoon homicides as unrelated.

The victims were discovered within an hour and a half of each other. In both cases, the victim had been shot.

The first was uncovered about 3:20 pm Tuesday, when Topeka Police found a shooting victim found inside a car in the 5300 block of SW 10th St., at the parking lot for the Camelot Village Apartments.

Police say initial evidence shows the shooting may not have occurred at that location. The investigation is ongoing.

The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The second report came in at 4:38 pm Tuesday. Officers found a man dead at 200 SE Quincy, that's a bus station known as Autobuses Los Paisonos, near the Law Enforcement Center.

Lt. Ron Gish says a witness told police he heard a shot and found the victim. Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived and confirmed the victim had been shot and was dead.

The victim's name in the second incident also has not been released. Authorities are working to make positive identification and notify next of kin.
