GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Three people were taken into custody along Interstate 70 in Geary County after officials say 200 pounds of marijuana were found in the trunk of their car.

On Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 2 PM, a Geary County Sheriff’s deputy made a routine traffic stop on a Suzuki passenger car on I-70 near mile marker 294 outside of Junction City.

Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf says the three people inside the car gave deputies consent to search the vehicle when they detected an odor of marijuana. In the trunk, the officers found several large black duffel bags filled with packaged marijuana.

Justin Wendling, 21, Adina Jones, 23, and Alvery Miner, 26, all of Arizona, were arrested for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Drug Tax Stamp.

According to deputies, Adina Jones and Alvery Miner are girlfriend and boyfriend and Jones is pregnant.

Officials declined to comment on where the suspects were coming from and where they were going, saying only that the trio is believed to have been transporting the drugs.

The marijuana was seized by authorities.

"As of right now, this is the biggest pot bust we’ve had this year. It’s not as big as we have had. A couple of years ago, we seized 800 pounds out of a semi we had come through Geary County so the guys are really working it and finding more and more all the time," Sheriff Wolf said. "One of the biggest goals we have here is to get these drugs off of the streets and out of the hands of the individuals that are looking for them. One bright spot about this is this marijuana will never hit the streets, it’ll never be sold and the bad guys went to jail."
