Suspect In Gas Station Shooting Faces 16 Charges

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Prosecutors filed 16 counts Thursday against the man arrested in connection with a shooting at a Topeka gas station.

51-year-old Daniel Cregut is charged with four counts each of attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault, as well as counts of burglary, criminal threat, stalking and kidnapping.

36-year-old Bryon Snyder was shot Monday at the BP near SW Huntoon and Lane. Prosecutors say he and two other men were trying to help a woman who was trying to escape Cregut.

Snyder suffered gunshot injuries to his heart, liver, a lung and a hand. He remained in fair condition Thursday at Stormont-Vail. He was moved out of intensive care Wednesday.

Cregut is scheduled to be back in court for a docket hearing Oct. 8. He remains jailed on $1 million bond.
