Stolen Statue Returns To Home Base

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A sculpture stolen from a local church is back home.

The "Forgiven Man" went missing from outside Topeka's First Congregational Church in October. It has stood outside the church at SW 17th and Collins for almost 30 years.

Authorities believe thieves stole it, intending to sell it as scrap metal.

It was found a week later, abandoned in the 7600 block of SE Croco Road.

Repairs are complete and the church will hold a re-dedication ceremony at 10:15 am Sunday, May 12, on the south side of the church.
