Soldier Pleads Not Guilty To Rape, Child Molestation

RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Fort Riley soldier has been arraigned on charges of rape and child molestation stemming of an alleged incident with a child.

Specialist George Ferenz was arrested in October on one count of Rape, two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sodomy and two counts of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child.

The charges stem from an incident on October 21, 2012 in Riley County. Ferenz is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 14. He is also accused of fondling and having oral sex with the child.

On Tuesday, January 22, 2013, Ferenz entered not guilty pleas to all of his charges and was arraigned in Riley County District Court.

His jury trial is set for April 23-25, 2013 at the Riley County courthouse.

According to the 1st Infantry Division's Public Affairs Office, at the time of his arrest, Ferenz was listed as a tank crewman assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team with the Big Red One at Fort Riley.
