Soldier Injured During Attack Near Aggieville

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Fort Riley soldier was taken to the hospital after officers found him on the ground in an alley suffering from multiple injuries.

On Saturday, September 15, 2012 around 3:30 AM, Riley County police responded to a welfare check in the 1200 block of Bluemont Avenue in the north alley way after receiving a report of a man lying on the ground near a dumpster just north of the Aggieville district. Police say details are scarce on the case but the RCPD did receive word about a fight in the area.

Officers found Korey Maddy, 26, who lives on Fort Riley, with visible trauma to several areas of his face and head. Maddy told police that he was jumped by multiple people after walking his friends home. He was transported to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan for treatment.

The incident is being investigated as a battery. They do not believe robbery was a motive in the attack.
