TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A late-afternoon shooting sent one man to the hospital late Tuesday afternoon.
Topeka Police were called around 4:30 pm to the 2900 block of SE Kentucky on reports of gunshots. When they arrived, officers found 23-year old Eric Leblanc in the 3000 block of SE Indiana.
Police say Leblanc and another man had some sort of altercation at the Kentucky address, where multiple gunshots were heard. Three of those rounds hit a house in the 3000 block of SE Indiana. It's believed the male suspect chased Leblanc from Kentucky to Indiana St., where he was found. Police say the suspect then got into a gray minivan, which was driven by a third person, and fled the scene.
Late Tuesday, police said Leblanc underwent surgery, but was expected to survive.
Police continued looking for the suspect and vehicle Tuesday evening. Anyone with information should contact TPD detectives at 785-368-9400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 785-234-0007.
