TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County Emergency Management warned county officials Thursday of a potential terror threat.
Officials say sovereign citizens are using what’s called “paper terrorism” to create false records and false liens.
Authorities say government officials have been the target of recent attacks across the U.S.
"In Las Vegas there was a couple sovereigns that had the intent of capturing and torturing some law enforcement officials," said Dusty Nichols, Deputy Director at Shawnee County Emergency Management. "In Kentucky, there was an issue where they had an assault on law enforcement official and killed some down there doing a car stop."
Nichols says if you come under attack, report the incident so officials can start tracking the outbreaks.
