RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police say they’ve launched an investigation into a case of reported child sex abuse after the parent of an 11-year-old girl told authorities that their daughter had been sexually assaulted by the person responsible for taking care of her.

Police were made aware of the alleged crime Thursday- the same day it occurred, officials said.

Lieutenant Josh Kyle, an RCPD spokesman, says the girl told her parent that a “person known to her had inappropriate contact with her” and that “her caretaker is the alleged suspect.”

The reported encounter is being investigated as an Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child. No other details are being released.
