(AP) - A hotel security guard was sentenced Tuesday for fatally wounding a McLouth high school student in Costa Rica last year.
Jorge Guevara will spend 15 years in prison for the shooting death of 16-year-old Justin Johnston.
Johnston was on a Spanish club trip when he and a friend were returning to their hotel after curfew and Johnston was shot. Guevara said he sent out a warning shot to frighten the teens, then sent another shot into the air because he thought the two were thieves.
Guevara and the hotel also must pay Johnston's family $650,000 in restitution.
