JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a home invasion in Junction City during which gunshots were exchanged with the homeowner.
Jamar Dunlap, 19, of Junction City, was arrested Monday on a Geary County District Court Warrant for Aggravated Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Burglary, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Robbery, Attempted First Degree Murder, and 3 counts of Aggravated Endangering a Child
Dominick Oden, 20, was arrested in April for Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Child Endangerment.
On February 28, 2013 around 10:30 PM, investigators say a gunman forced his way into a mobile home in the Cottonwood Estates on Grant Avenue. At the time, the residents- a man and his family- were home. Officials have declined to release the victims' identities.
Lt. Jeff Childs says the homeowner was awakened by someone breaking into his home. Gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and homeowner but no one was injured.
The suspects managed to get away and the investigation has spanned months, with detectives interviewing multiple people.
Through their investigation, Childs says they discovered the identities of the suspects and were able to link Oden and Dunlap to the crime.
Oden was arrested first and Lt. Childs says Dunlap was identified as the second suspect during the course of the investigation as investigators found that he was also involved in the home invasion.
