SUV Found Burned In Jackson Co. Stolen From Manhattan

HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW) - Authorities say a burned-out SUV found in rural Jackson County was stolen from Manhattan.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office say the 2005 Dodge Durango was found smoldering just after 6 am Monday on 278th road in northern Jackson County, about two miles east of Highway 75, southeast of Netawaka.

Authorities traced the owner back to Manhattan. Riley County Police say the vehicle's owner reported it had been taken sometime earlier in the morning.

The vehicle was destroyed by the fire. Dollar loss is estimated at $12,000.

So far, no one's been arrested. Authorities continue investigating.
