MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police are investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving a young boy in Manhattan.

Officer Matthew Droge, spokesman for the Riley County Police Department, said a male victim under the age of 10 was reportedly the victim of inappropriate touching by a female suspect in the northeast section of Manhattan. An exact location was not provided. Droge indicated that the victim and suspect know each other.

The alleged sex offense was originally reported to the Wichita Police Department and the case was forwarded to the RCPD Tuesday night because they have jurisdiction.

Droge could not provide information on when the reported incident occurred but told members of the media that the child involved is not currently in any danger.

The Indecent Liberties With a Child case is being handled by the RCPD's Investigations Division.

It is not clear why the allegations were reported to Wichita police first. No other details were provided.
