MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police officials say they've tracked down several people they believe were involved in an incident involving gunfire outside of Eisenhower Middle School in Manhattan.
At 2:40 AM on Sunday, July 29, 2012, police received a report of shots fired in the area of the school, located on Walters Drive.
Residents in the area reported that there was an altercation in the parking lot involving about 30 people. Neighbors say they heard yelling about a gun and at least one gunshot.
By the time officers arrived at the scene, the group had scattered.
Officials said Monday morning that no known victims have showed up at local hospitals suffering from gunshot wounds. At least one shell casing was recovered from the parking lot, according to a department spokesman.
During a follow-up investigation, officers were able to make contact with eight people they believe were present when the incident took place.
The investigation continues.
