MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police combed through a Kansas State University student’s dorm room after he was busted for DUI and drugs in nearby Aggieville.

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 9: 30 PM, an RCPD officer on foot patrol in Aggieville during the annual Fake Patty’s Day celebration made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1200 block of Laramie Street for a traffic infraction.

The officer made contact with the driver, Kevin Decock, 19, and officials say that’s when Decock sped off. He was apprehended a half a block away by another RCPD officer.

According to police, an investigation ensued stemming from the traffic stop and Decock was arrested for:
• Driving Under the Influence
• Interference with Law Enforcement
• Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
• No Kansas Drug Tax Stamp
• Identity Fraud

On Monday, March 11, 2013 at approximately 1:45 PM, Riley County detectives executed a search warrant at Kevin Decock’s dorm room in Kansas State University’s Haymaker Hall stemming from his arrest.

Follow up investigation indicated that there may be non-hazardous substances at this location, a press release said.

Preventive measures were taken as a precaution during the warrant service and officers were equipped with personal protective equipment. RCPD Sergeant Brad Ingalls said investigators were taking “precautions on any kind of hazardous materials related to drugs.” He declined to elaborate further.

Residents were asked to leave their rooms but were allowed to remain in the floor’s common area during the search.

No hazardous materials were located.

Ingalls said the investigation is ongoing. He declined to say what, if anything was discovered in Decock’s dorm room.
