Neighbors Cope With Loss Of Homicide Victim

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Topeka police are still looking for whoever fired the shots early Wednesday morning that claimed a woman's life.

Police say 49 year old Terri Sims was killed when someone fired multiple gunshots into a residence in the 700 block of SW Taylor.

Nighbors say Sms was a caring woman who acted as a mother figure for her community.

Jennifer Haines, neighbor of Sims said, "She had this laugh about her, there wasn't anything like it and she was a loving grandmother. I always laughed because her grandkids would wait outside and yell when their grandmother would come home. Their wasn't anybody like her."

Terri was also known at the Golden Corral restaurant on Wanamaker, where she worked eighteen years as head waitress.
