TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Meriden man pleaded guilty Friday to involuntary manslaughter in connection with a March 2010 fatal accident.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped additional counts against Aaron Meade, including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving left of center and unlawfully obtaining and distributing a prescription-only drug.

Authorities say Meade was driving a pickup north on K4 highway in March of 2010 when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound car driven by 50-year-old Neil Highsmith.

Highsmith died at the scene.

Meade will be sentenced March 10th.
