(WIBW) - A Hutchinson man who threatened President Obama has been sentenced to two years in federal prison.
27-year old Michael Scott Ramsey pleaded guilty to one count of threatening the president.
Prosecutors say that, in July 2009, Ramsey wrote two letters that were delivered to Larned State Hospital saying he threatened to kill the president. In the first letter, he said “I am going to kill Barrack (sic) Obama ... and this is Michael Ramsey telling you this.” In the second letter, Ramsey wrote, “I’ll take his life.”
Ramsey underwent an evaluation in fall 2011, but the evaluating team found no evidence he suffered from a mental disorder that made him unable to know his actions were wrong.
