Man Convicted Of Killing Trooper Up For Parole

George Rainey

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A man convicted of killing a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper in 1981 will be considered for parole Wednesday.

53-year old George Rainey was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ferdinand "Bud" Pribbenow. Pribbenow had pulled Rainey over for speeding north of El Dorado in Butler County when Rainey fatally shot the trooper.

The Kansas Prisoner Review Board will consider Rainey - and 21 other inmates - during a meeting Wednesday at the Landon State Office Building.

His attorney says Rainey was involved in voodoo and under a hypnotic trance at the time of the murder.
