MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police are asking Manhattan residents to check their homes for any missing coin jars or guns after a man was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Darraus Deon Washington, 22, of Manhattan, was taken into custody at 3 AM Thursday on Sunset Lane off of North Delaware Avenue. Officials say an on officer on routine patrol in the area spotted Deon in all dark clothing walking on the side of the road and thought his actions were suspicious. According to police, when Washington was stopped, he was in possession of a large amount of change and a handgun that is believed to be stolen.
As of Thursday morning, the Riley County Police Department had not received a report of a break-in or a report of any such stolen items so officials are asking residents in the area to check their homes and cars to see if anything is missing and if so, to call police and report it.
