TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm following a January shooting.
24-year-old Taron Huggins was arrested January 25th at Hooters Restaurant on SW Wanamaker.
Police say he and another man were involved in a shooting, then led officers on a chase. Police say the two ended up going the wrong way on I-70 and causing an accident at the off ramp to Wanamaker Road.
Officers say they found a pistol discarded nearby. Prosecutors say Huggins was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a prior felony conviction.
Sentencing is set for August 19th. He faces more than 15 years in prison.
