Man Arrested After Threatening To Shoot Mall Security In Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A man wanted on a felony warrant was taken into custody after police say he threatened to shoot mall security officers.

Police said Monday the man stole an item from the Sears store at West Ridge Mall. When security officers confronted him, he moved his hand toward his waistband and threatened to shoot.

The man didn't actually show a weapon, but did run away, according to police. He then walked into Talbots, a clothing store located at 1717 SW Wanamaker Rd.

After leaving Talbots the individual walked into Mr. Stirfry, a restaurant located at 1700 SW Wanamaker.

Police arrested the male subject at Mr. Stirfry around 12:20 p.m.

The suspect, identified as O'dell R. Carter, 48, was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery and felony warrant out of Johnson County.
