LAWRENCE, Kansas (WIBW) -- Lawrence police say they believe the man caught on surveillance robbing a local business may be responsible for a recent string of three robberies within the past 10 days.

On Saturday night, officers were dispatched around 8:00 to La Tiendita at 3022 Iowa Street.

Prior to their arrival, a man had entered the store with a handgun, demanded cash and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The employee at the store described the suspect as a hispanic male, about 5'8" in height, weighing 150 pounds, wearing a black beanie, black hooded sweatshirt and a jean jacket.

The employee said the suspect only spoke in Spanish.

Officials said two additional robberies have occurred in a four to five-block radius over the past 10 days, with the suspect description matching the person in Saturday night's robbery. One happened at a discount tobacco store at 25th & Iowa and the other happened at an Auto Zone parts store at 27th & Iowa.

The suspect was caught on surveillance at La Tiendita and officers are asking anyone with information to call 785-832-7509.
