TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas Supreme Court upheld a Topeka man's convictions for sexually abusing three girls, two of them his granddaughters.

Robert Longstaff was convicted on two counts of rape of a child under age 14 and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He was charged in 2005, when the victims were 5, 6 and 8 years old.

Longstaff, now in his 60s, was sentenced to 39 years in prison.

Longstaff appealed his convictions, arguing evidence of a previous conviction should not have been allowed, a taped police interview should have been edited, and the sentence was imposed without a jury determination.

The Kansas Supreme Court's decision was unanimous.
