Kansas Crime Victims Receive Financial Support

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) Victims of violent crimes saw some justice Thursday when the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board awarded more than $310,000 to 248 victims.

The compensation program was established in 1978 to help victims pay for unexpected expenses such as lost wages, counseling and funeral costs.

Awards were made in 124 new cases and additional expenses were paid in 124 previous cases.
