TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Monday is the beginning of a jury trial for Monroe Lockhart, who is charged in a brutal home invasion.

The trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in Shawnee County District Court. Lockhart faces charges in connection with an assault, battery and burglary during a Topeka home invasion in November 2011.

Lockhart's trial was originally scheduled to start in January, but was rescheduled so a seventh attorney appointed to his case would have time to prepare. Linda Eckleman will represent Lockhart.
