ABILENE, Kan. (KAKE) — A Kansas teen is hospitalized while another is jailed following a stabbing at a party over the weekend.

Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, Dickinson County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a rural residence for the report of a stabbing. There, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Carson Sherbert, 18, of rural Abilene was taken to a Salina hospital for treatment. He remains hospitalized but his current condition is unknown.

Investigators say that during a party at the home, a fight broke out involving numerous people. During the altercation, Sherbert was stabbed several times.

Deputies have since arrested a 17-year-old from the Junction City area. He remains in custody pending formal charges.

Dickinson County investigators are still interviewing witnesses who were at the party. They say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
