Hammer-Wielding Man Invades Home
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A woman was able to lock herself in a bedroom when a man forced his way into her apartment Wednesday night.
Topeka Police say an officer responded to a home invasion at 9:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of SW Buchanan.
The victim told police a middle-aged black man with a hammer forced his way into her apartment. She said the man had long, loose black hair, and was wearing a solid black t-shirt and orange or red shorts/pants.
She told police she was able to lock herself in a bedroom. The man pounded on the door, demanding money, but didn't get into the room. The victim said he eventually left.
