Governor Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Victims of Wisconsin Tragedy

TOPEKA – In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback ordered Monday that flags at all state office buildings, grounds and facilities in Kansas to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down on August 10, 2012 as a mark of respect for the victims of the tragedy in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

“Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer and I are shocked and saddened by the senseless act of violence perpetrated against worshippers at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin,” Governor Brownback said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this tragedy. The entire nation mourns the loss of the innocent victims.”

The Governor urged all Kansas residents, businesses, schools, local governments and other organizations to join the state in displaying their flags at half-staff until sundown Friday, August 10th.
