TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Formal charges have been filed against a well known Topeka defense attorney.
63-year-old Wendell Betts was arrested July 23 when police say he drove into the law enforcement center parking lot, nearly striking vehicles, then went inside, showing signs of impairment.
Court documents show he was charged Monday with one felony count of stalking, and seven misdemeanors including DUI, violation of a protective order, and possession of hallucinogenic drugs.
A court appearance is set for September 26th.
Betts also has an October 21st misdemeanor jury trial on charges of domestic battery and intimidation of a witness from a March incident involving his wife.
