TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A would-be burglar was caught red-handed, thanks to a couple alert employees.
Topeka Police say, just after 9 pm Tuesday, two workers at the Cargill facility on northwest Gordon saw a man open a locked gate with bolt cutters. Police say the employees followed the suspect inside the fenced area where heavy equipment is kept and, when he saw them, he ran.
According to police, the workers managed to catch him and keep him subdued until officers arrived.
50-year-old Charles Balocca was booked on misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass, criminal damage, assault and attempted theft. He was free Wednesday on $5,000 bond.
