Drug Arrest Made At Manhattan High School

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A student at Manhattan High School was arrested after illegal narcotics were found on school grounds.

Around 9:30 AM on Friday, August 31, 2012, Riley County police say officials at Manhattan High School West made contact with a student they suspected of using drugs. A search was conducted and according to police, drugs were discovered.

Officials notified the school resource officer who arrested 18-year-old Zachary Almquist for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Alprazolam (Xanax) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Almquist's bond was set at $2,000. He has posted bond and is out of jail.

No other details were released on the incident.
