RCPD Investigates 'Large Amount Of Blood' in Apt Complex

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County Police say a large amount of blood discovered in a common area of a Manhattan apartment complex launched a major investigation Sunday.

Officers were called just after 10:30 Sunday morning to 3120 Heritage Lane, at the Heritage Ridge Apartments near Cico Park.

Witnesses say a large area was taped off at the corner of Wreath Avenue and Kimball. Roads were also closed near Kimball Avenue and Seth Child.

Officials say preliminary information is sketchy. Officers are conducting a full investigation into the matter, and attempting to locate and identify the blood's source.

The Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter was seen circling the area.

More details will be released Monday morning at an RCPD press briefing.
