TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - People joined together in the fight against crime tonight.
The Topeka Crime Stoppers organization held its annual banquet.
The event not only recognizes people for their efforts in reducing crime, it also raises money to offer as rewards for information leading the arrest and conviction of criminals.
Authorities say crime stoppers is a key partner in fighting crime locally.
"There are a lot of individuals that don't necessarily trust the system, so having that third party crime stoppers, in the conduit of crime investigation, we would be in bad shape," said Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor. "Crime stoppers is a key partner for us here locally."
13's Suzie Gilbert served as emcee for tonight's event.
