SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) _ A hotel security guard who shot and killed a Kansas teen vacationing in Costa Rica two years ago has been acquitted of homicide charges in his second trial.

Jorge Guevara shot Justin Johnston of McLouth as he was entering a hotel in northern Costa Rica from a neighboring property on a June morning more than two years ago.

Guevara said he fired a warning shot when he saw someone he thought was a burglar.

A tribunal in Costa Rica initially convicted Guevara and sentenced him to 15 years in prison. An appellate court ordered a new trial, ruling that the trial judges had not established their finding that the guard fired the shots with intent to kill.
