TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The suspect in a string of Topeka armed robberies is charged with 37 counts.
The Shawnee County District Attorney's Office filed its complaint late Thursday against 27-year-old Arthur Lee Crain III. He faces 13 counts of aggravated robbery with a dangerous weapon; 14 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; 2 counts of rape; 3 counts of aggravated sexual battery - non-consenual touching; and single counts each of aggravated criminal sodomy, kidnapping, criminal damage, battery and theft less than $1,000.
He's being held on $500,000 bond.
Crain was arrested Monday night following a traffic stop at SE 6th and Qunicy. He was initially held soley for a holdup at Highland Park Pharmacy, but Topeka Police suspected him in nine holdups, including one during which a Dominoes Pizza employee was sexually assaulted.
The Shawnee Count DA's office would not confirm Thursday how many incidents the charges cover. A spokesperson said the office would be able to release the criminal complaint Friday morning.
