RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Riley County police say a distracted teen driver was taken to the hospital and cited after an accident on K-18.

On Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 4:30 PM, officers were called to an injury accident on Fort Riley Boulevard (K-18 Highway) near Stagg Hill Road.

Officials say 18-year-old Hannah Byun, of Junction City, was eastbound on Fort Riley Boulevard in her 2006 Pontiac G6 and was fiddling with her iPhone/iPod and trying to change the song it was playing when she realized she was about to hit a cone in the construction zone. The highway has been reduced to two lanes during a major road work and widening project.

According to police, Byun swerved to miss the the cone and over-corrected, clipping a 2000 GMC Yukon that was westbound, driven by 48-year-old Michael Packer of Junction City. After striking the SUV, Byun's car went into a construction area and rolled over.

She was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan with neck pain and a possible concussion.

She was cited for inattentive driving.
