MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Manhattan man was taken into custody after his car slammed into a local health facility.

Riley County police arrested Michael West, 61, Tuesday morning for Criminal Damage to Property and Reckless Driving after his car crashed into Pawnee Mental Health Services at the corner of Claflin Road and Sunset Avenue around 8:30 AM.

RCPD's spokesman Officer Matthew Droge said West drove east through the front lawn, intentionally striking a sign and several light posts. One of the posts went through the front entrance, shattering the glass doors. In total, there was $15,000 worth of damage but no one was injured.

West was taken into custody at the scene.

Officer Droge could not provide information on why West allegedly drove into the facility but told WIBW that police don’t believe he was under the influence of alcohol. He could not say if West had ever been treated at Pawnee Mental Health Services.

West's has posted his $4,000 bond and is out of jail.
