TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Topeka Police Department Bomb Squad had to get involved in a morning home burglary.
Police officers were investigating the burglary at 616 SE 34th Street around 4:05 a.m. Thursday when officers located a device they determined to be an explosive. The TPD Bomb Squad was called to secure it. The ATF was notified as well.
Authorities had cleared the area early Thursday morning, but tell us detectives continue to investigate. They had no other information as investigators were "trying to put the puzzle together," a TPD lieutenant said.
