MINNEAPOLIS, Kan. (WIBW) -- Minneapolis USD 239 schools and activities are cancelled until further notice while authorities search for three inmates that escaped in the area Wednesday morning.
According to the Kansas Department of Corrections, four people broke out of the Ottawa County Jail at about 5 a.m. They were state prisoners being held at the county jail.
Authorities say one escapee was caught, but they're still looking for the other three.
Santos Carrera, 22, is a Hispanic male, 5'9", weighing 169 lbs, brown eyes, with a shaved head and goatee. He was jailed for a 2008 conviction of two counts of First-Degree Murder in Sedgwick County.
Eric James, 22, is a light-skinned black male, 5'7", 180 lbs, brown eyes, with cornrows. He was jailed for a 2009 conviction of three counts of aggravated burglary and one count of kidnapping in Anderson County.
Drew Wade, 21, is a white male, 176 lbs, blue eyes, with a shaved head and "785" tattooed across his neck. He was jailed for a 2008 conviction of one count attempted robbery and one count aggravated battery in Shawnee County.
KAKE in Wichita reported Wednesday morning that the Kansas Highway Patrol was looking for a brown or gold 2002 Nissan Altima with Kansas license 649-CII, as well as a silver Chevy Impala with an unknown tag number.
Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or the inmates is asked to call 911.
