Oketo, KAN. (WIBW) -- The search for a man, who allegedly has ties to a terrorist organization continued Monday evening in the northeast Kansas town of Oketo.

U.S. Marshalls, Marshall County sheriff’s deputies, and Gage County Nebraska sheriff’s deputies are searching for 27-year-old Kyle Joekel. They say Joekel left a bar in Barneston, Nebraska Sunday afternoon, saying he was going into Kansas to kill law enforcement .

Marysville police began a pursuit of Joekel and a passenger Sunday night, which led to Joekel crashing into an Oketa home. Joekel's passenger, 43-year-old David Schwartz was arrested and released, according to authorities. But Joekel fled on foot, and was still on the run, as of 5:30 p.m. Monday. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Gage County Nebraska authorities say they know Joekel for making threats, firearms activity, and drug deals.

Marshall County sheriff’s deputies say the search for Joekel was scaled down from 50 authorities Sunday night, to 15 Monday afternoon.

Joekel has been described as six-feet tall, with reddish brown hair, wearing a grey shirt, and blue jeans at the time.
