TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The 20-year-old charged in the killing of Seaman High School grad Brenna Morgart, on May 25, was convicted in a 2009 sexual assault case as a juvenile, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

The news outlet reports Dustin Leftwich, of Topeka, had only 10 days left on his probation in the sexual assault case when he was arrested for Morgart's slaying.

CJ reports Leftwich was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14. They say Leftwich was 17 at the time of the crime, and the victim was 13.

Leftwich was charged with four counts in connection with Morgart's death, including first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and providing false information about the collision. A fifth charge, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a vehicle, stemmed from an unrelated incident last year.

Leftwich will be in court Thursday, when his preliminary hearing date will be set.
