(WIBW) - Lawrence officials are asking for information related to several arson fires across the south central part of the city.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Kansas City Field Office Division is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest of those behind more than a dozen small fires set inside or near apartment complexes. The fires date back to October 19th.
People with information may contact the Lawrence Fire Medical Department at 785-830-7065; Lawrence Police at 785-830-7430; or the Douglas County TIPS Hotline at 785-843-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous.
With the suspect or suspects at large, Lawrence public safety officials remind people to be vigilant and check that their smoke alarms are in working order. They also recommend removing any combustible materials from hallways and exits.
The Lawrence Fire Medical Department is assisting apartment complexes with installing additional smoke alarms and emergency lighting as needed. Anyone requiring assistance with ensuring their alarm is functioning properly should contact their property manager or the Fire Medical Department, 785-830-7000.
