Topeka, KAN. (WIBW)--A jury found 24-year-old Jesse Dennis Dimmick guilty on 2 counts kidnapping, theft & eluding police Thursday afternoon. The jury, after deliberating for more than 2 hours, found Dimmick not guilty of battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After a manhunt that started the day before in Geary County, Dimmick crashed a stolen van in the Rowley's front yard in Dover. Displaying a knife, he then walked into their home, and held the newlyweds hostage for 3 hours. The Rowleys escaped when Dimmick fell asleep watching Patch Adams on their television.

In Dimmick's preliminary hearing, Lindsay and Jared testified they thought they were going to die that day. Family members said the September 12th, 2009 incident has left a constant feeling of fear in the newlyweds.

About 30 of Lindsay and Jared Rowley's family members and friends were in the courtroom for closing arguments Thursday morning. They heard the prosecution argue that Dimmick used force, fear and deception to keep the newlyweds confined in their Dover home.

The defense did not use all of the 45 minutes given to them for closing arguments. Dimmicks attorney, Mark Bennett argued how Dimmick could have held the couple hostage while he fell asleep and asked Lindsay to wake him up after the police left.
