The 1900 block of SE 22nd street has just reopened after a standoff between police and a suspected burglar closed the street for nearly two hours .

Topeka Police got the call around 2:30 Sunday afternoon that a resident got home to find a person they did not know inside stealing items.

The homeowner immediately ran to a neighbors home.

The suspect is described as a black male, mid 20's or 30's, approximately 6 foot 2 or 6 foot 4 wearing a black jacket or black back pack.

Said he had a gun but did not display it.

A response team went inside the home to find no one there.

Police say if you see anyone in the neighborhood you do not recognize and they are knocking on doors contact police immediately.
