Topeka, KAN. (WIBW)--Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Saturday morning.
Topeka police responded to the 2000 block of S.E. Massachusetts Ave. after multiple gunshots were fired in the area. Authorities said 22-year-old Forrest Dwayne Sanders was shot in the abdomen after a drive-by shooting around 2:25 Saturday morning.
Sanders was outside with a group of people when the vehicle, described as a white, four-door car, possibly a Lexus fired the shots and sped away.
A friend of Sanders decided to drive him to the hospital. On the way, they went airborne near the intersection of S.E. 15th and Monroe. The car eventually rolled and came to a stop near 15th and Quincy.
The driver suffered only minor injuries while Sanders remained in critical condition. He later died, police don't know if it was from the accident or gun shot wound.
